Brewmaster Bio

Carl Wiersma comes from a great background in the Brewing industry. Born and raised in Wisconsin, Carl graduated from the University of WI-Madison. He then moved on to work at Kurth Malting in Milwaukee for seven years, and was the Director of Malting the last four years.

Carl moved to Anheuser Busch where he worked in the Research Pilot Brewery for eight years. He worked in all areas including Malting, Brewhouse, Fermenting, and Finishing Cellars, and was the Brewhouse Manager for the last five years where he scheduled all production and designed their experimental brews.

In 1995, Carl moved to the AB brewery in Fort Collins, Colorado where he worked as a Brewing Supervisor, mainly working in the Brewhouse, Fermenting, and Lager Cellar Area. In 2002 Carl moved back to Saint Louis and worked at Anheuser Busch where he worked in the Corporate Quality Assurance Department and handled New Products, and Inline Instrumentation. The last two years, he was the Sensory Director for the department, where he trained tasters and administered threshold tasting tests and defect identification panels.

Carl Wiersma comes from a well-rounded background in brewing, and we are proud to have him as our Brewmaster at Crown Valley Brewing & Distilling.
